After moving to Canada from the Philippines, Gemma explored a variety of jobs—from retail to accounting—each shaping her vision for the career she wanted. When she joined Travelers, she quickly realized the company offered more than just a job: it was a place where she could take on new challenges and continuously learn.

Gemma’s Travelers journey began in the mailroom, where she had the chance to meet colleagues across the Oakville office. “I visited many of these floors three or more times a day and had the chance to make connections with people at all different levels, which opened doors for me,” she says. These early interactions laid the foundation for her growth within the company.

Over the years, Gemma has advanced through multiple roles in Operations, including policy services and underwriting account management. For the past five years, she has contributed her expertise to the Business Insurance Select & Small Business Solutions (SBS) team as a Lead Operations Account Specialist.

“I focus a lot on training new hires who support small business submissions. I love the opportunity to train others and learn alongside my peers,” Gemma explains. Serving as a subject matter expert and change manager, she helps teams adopt new tools, processes and best practices, fostering both personal and team growth.

One of her proudest moments came in 2024 when she was recognized as one of 21 Operations colleagues who received an annual award in recognition for top performance.

“It was an incredible affirmation of the work I love and the impact I can have at Travelers. It also gave me the chance to meet colleagues from across the company,” she says.

Gemma’s story shows how Travelers supports long-term career growth, continuous learning and opportunities to make an impact across the business.
