Travelers Europe’s Reforestation Project Surpasses 20,000 Trees
We are pleased to announce that the Travelers Europe Forest has grown to more than 20,000 trees.
The forest was established in 2021 and, rather than being a single forest, it is made up of multiple forests around the world. Our trees are planted in reforestation projects in Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique and Nepal.
Why trees? Not only do they help to reduce carbon emissions and boost biodiversity, they also create real value for local communities by generating jobs, increasing food security and providing protection from natural disasters.
This achievement was driven by our employees in the UK and Ireland, who “earn” trees by completing volunteering activities organized by our partner OnHand, as well as for long-service awards and employee prizes. OnHand then plants saplings at the various reforestation projects on our behalf.
Matthew Wilson, President and CEO of Travelers Europe, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve reached this milestone, and I’m especially proud that it is a direct result of the efforts of our employees. Their commitment is turning everyday actions into long-term benefits for the planet.”
